Women's Basketball Falls 72-63 in Monroe

MONROE, La. - Georgia State held a 12-point lead in the third quarter Saturday at Monroe, but ULM used a 23-16 fourth quarter to overcome the deficit and knock off the Panthers 72-63.

Astaja Tyghter scored a career-high 22 points and started the game a perfect 7-for-7 from the floor. Makeba Ponder finished with 12 points and Tiffany Holston tallied 11 rebounds with eight points and five assists.

The Panthers held a slim 29-28 advantage at the half and came out of the break on fire. GSU used a 10-2 run to open the second half and build a double-digit lead, but ULM closed the gap in the final moments of the third period. Then in the fourth, ULM shot 55% to take over the game and secure the win.

The Panthers narrowly out-rebounded the Warhawks, but ULM sank eight 3-pointers compared to GSU's zero. ULM also won the turnover battle and had eight blocks.

Georgia State (5-11, 1-4 SBC) returns home to host App State on Thursday and Coastal Carolina on Saturday.
