What you need to know:
* In the final match of the weekend, Georgia State lost its match against UL Monroe in four sets. The Warhawks defeated the Panthers by final scores of 25-23, 18-25, 21-25, and 11-25.
* Seniors Eliza Zachary and Katelyn Rawls shined offensively with 19 combined kills. Celeste Friesen led the way defensively with 16 digs. The Panthers fall to 4-9 on the season.
* The Panthers will look to bounce back at home next weekend with matches against Troy and South Alabama in the GSU Sports Arena.
MONROE, L.A. – In the final match of the weekend, Georgia State lost its match against UL Monroe in a highly competitive match. The Panthers were able to take the first set, but the Warhawks outlasted GSU for a victory of 25-23, 18-25, 21-25, and 11-25.
Georgia State fell to 4-9 on the 2016 season, but the Panthers used a balanced offensive attack to make things difficult for the Warhawks early in the match. Eliza Zachary and Katelyn Rawls' offensive firepower of 19 combined kills stood out in the match Saturday night.
Hope Pawlik and Tara Jenkins performed at a high level for ULM with 12 and 9 kills, respectively. Kacey LeBlanc had herself a day with a match-high 20 digs. The combination of Pawlik, Jenkins and LeBlanc proved too much for the Panthers.
The Warhawks improved to 7-12 on the season after going 2-0 over the weekend. Georgia State will look to get back on track next weekend at home versus Troy and South Alabama. Head coach Sally Polhamus will lead the Panthers back into battle next Friday and Saturday at 6:00 p.m.
