Baseball Program Honored with ABCA Team Academic Award

ATLANTA -- Georgia State is one of 29 Division I programs to earn the Team Academic Excellence Award from the American Baseball Coaches Association.

The ACBA Team Academic Excellence Award recognized programs that maintained a grade-point average above 3.0 for the fall 2015 and spring 2016 semesters combined. Georgia State's GPA for 2015-16 was an all-time high 3.259.

Senior catcher Joey Roach and sophomore shortstop Justin Jones gave Georgia State two CoSIDA Academic All-Americans for 2016. Junior outfielder Ryan Blanton joined Roach and Jones on the CoSIDA Academic All-District team, making GSU one of only two programs in the nation with three Academic All-District selections.

Thirty-three Panthers earned President's List (4.0 GPA), Dean's List (3.5 GPA) or Athletic Director's Honor Roll (3.0 GPA) status for the spring semester, following 30 academic honorees in the fall.
