What you need to know:
* Georgia State is back in action Wednesday with a doubleheader at Furman.
* The Panthers are 18-14 (4-2 SBC) this season and are coming off an 8-4 loss to No. 3 Auburn.
* GSU is on the road this weekend as well, traveling to South Alabama for a three-game series.
ATLANTA – Returning from a week without a game, Georgia State's softball team gets back into the swing of things with a doubleheader at Furman Wednesday in Greenville, S.C. The first game is scheduled for 3 p.m.
GSU is 18-14 this season after falling to No. 3 Auburn last Wednesday. The Panthers return to the field to face the 16-16 Paladins. GSU leads the all-time series with a 43-26 record against Furman.
The twinbill will be streamed live on the SoCon Digital Network and live statistics will be provided through StatBroadcast.
LEADING OFF
• Georgia State has won seven of its last nine games and is off to a 4-2 start in conference play. The Panthers and Paladins will be meeting for the 70th and 71st times.
• GSU owns the all-time record versus Furman with a 43-26 tally.
• In the second RPI release of the season on March 28, GSU came in at No. 45 which ranks second-highest in the Sun Belt.
• Sophomore Ivie Drake leads the team in batting average (.387), slugging percentage (.731), on base percentage (.529), walks (27), doubles (6) and home runs (8). Drake was named an All-American as a freshman in 2015.
• Senior Taylor Anderson's 23 RBI is tied for most on the team with Kensey Caldwell. Anderson was selected to the preseason All-Sun Belt squad.
• GSU's pitching staff is led by senior Katie Worley and transfer sophomore Annie Davis. Worley has both a perfect game and no-hitter to her name this season and ranks No. 6 in the country in hits allowed per seven innings (3.48). Davis has two complete games this season to go with a 3.09 ERA.
• Ivie Drake has been walked 27 times this season, an average of .084 a game. She ranks No. 13 in the country in walks per game.
• Two Panthers were tabbed to the Preseason All-Sun Belt team in catcher Ivie Drake and shortstop Taylor Anderson.
• Georgia State was voted by the conference coaches to finish third in the Sun Belt this season, the same position the team finished in last season.
• Georgia State has 991 wins since the first year of fast-pitch competition in 1985. The Panthers are trying to become just the 34th program to reach the 1,000 win mark.
