ATLANTA- Junior Zackery Kennedy was named Men's Tennis Student-Athlete of the Week, the Sun Belt announced Wednesday.
Kennedy faced four ranked athletes in singles and doubles play last weekend, winning three of those matches. His performance, along with his teammates', helped the men's tennis team earn a No. 63 national ranking from the ITA.
Primarily playing at the No. 2 doubles and singles spot, Kennedy has a singles record of 4-2 and a doubles record of 4-2. Both of his singles loss have been close, with each opponent only winning the sets by two points.
An Atlanta native, Kennedy is seven singles wins and six doubles away from tying his career-record for wins in a season.
The Panthers will be back in action this weekend as they host ETSU on Feb. 26 and Winthrop Feb. 27. Live stats for both matches will be available at GeorgiaStateSports.com.
