*The men's tennis travels to No. 44 Georgia Tech and Emory following three home-games.
*The team is currently 3-1, after three straight wins over Mercer, Furman, Lipscomb.
*This is the first two of a four road-game stretch for the Panthers.
ATLANTA- Coming off a sweep of Lipscomb on Feb. 7, the men's tennis team takes on No. 44 Georgia Tech and Emory in a Valentine's Day doubleheader. The Panthers will be away for both matches, playing at Georgia Tech at noon and at Emory at 6 p.m. Live stats will be available for the Georgia Tech match.
The team improved to 3-1 with last weekend's win, when a strong showing from seven student-athletes led to the best four-game start the Panthers have seen since the 2012-2013 season.
In doubles play, all three pairs won their match to earn GSU the first point of the game. Felipe Jaworski was the first to finish in singles play, earning a 6-2, 6-2 win over John Tougher and putting the Panthers up 2-0.
The game-clinching point came from sophomore Andrei Andrukhou, who defeated Phillpe Courteau 7-5, 6-4 in the No. 3 match. Jannis Koeke led the Panthers to a sweep over the Bisons with a 6-3, 3-6, 6-4 win over Rob Mitchell in the No. 1 match.
GSU will open up the double header against the No. 44 Yellow Jackets, who are on a three-game losing streak. Georgia Tech is 3-3 overall, with losses at South Carolina, UCLA, and Georgia.
The team is led in singles play by No. 9 Christopher Eubanks, whose only loss this season has come against No. 20 Wayne Montgomery from Georgia. Doubles play is led by Casey Kay and Michael Kay, ranking No. 24 by the ITA after going 3-1 this spring.
Emory will play Georgia State in its third match of the season. Prior to meeting with the Panthers, the Eagles will face Dalton State on Feb. 13 and Georgia Gwinnett College on Feb. 14.
