
ATLANTA -- Haley Gerrin, who sparked the Georgia State women's basketball team to a road win at Appalachian State, is the Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week, powered by the U.S. Marines.
Gerrin, the junior forward, scored 20 points in just 19 minutes in Thursday's 80-75 Sun Belt Conference victory. Making her first start of the season, she went 6-for-9 from the field and 8-for-9 from the free line and also grabbed six rebounds.
In addition to her offense, Gerrin took two charges on defense, including a crucial one with 11.8 seconds left in the game.
For the week, Gerrin averaged 14.5 points and 4.5 rebounds while hitting 10-of-16 shots from the floor and 9-of-11 at the line in the two games.
A native of Clarkesville, Ga., who attended Habersham Central High School, Gerrin is a Dean's List student majoring in education.
Gerrin and the Panthers return to action this week with a road swing at Arkansas State (Thursday, 6 p.m. ET) and Little Rock (Saturday, 5 p.m. ET.). The next home game is Thursday, Feb. 3 vs. Texas State at 5 p.m.
