DES MOINES, Iowa – Georgia State's men's tennis team was defeated 4-1 by No. 29 Drake Friday afternoon in Des Moines, Iowa. The Panthers take on Wisconsin-Green Bay at 11 a.m. Saturday in a neutral-site contest.
Senior Sofiane Chevallier won his seventh straight match Friday, but the No. 29 Bulldogs won the doubles point and three singles matches to clinch 4-1 over the Panthers. Chevallier is 8-5 in dual play and 15-8 in the 2014-15 season. Only Jannis Koeke, who lost to No. 39 Alen Salibasic on Friday, has more dual wins than Chevallier. Koeke sits at 10-5 at No. 1 singles.
Georgia State dropped doubles matches at No. 1 and 3 to fall behind 1-0. Chevallier's win at No. 4 tied things up before the Bulldogs took Nos. 5, 1 and 2 to clinch. Sebastian Acuna and Felipe Jaworski were both in the third sets of their respective matches when Drake clinched.
The Panthers have a neutral-site meeting Saturday morning against Wisconsin-Green Bay. The Panthers and Phoenix play at 11 a.m. Georgia State has four matches remaining this season with Senior Day coming on April 10 at Piedmont Park against Georgia Southern.
