MONROE, La. – Playing its final match of the 2015 season, Georgia State's volleyball team went out with a bang, sweeping UL Monroe 25-20, 25-21, 25-20 Sunday afternoon in Monroe, La.
Georgia State (7-19, 3-13 SBC) hit .218 as a squad to defeat UL Monroe (14-18, 3-13 SBC) in the two sides' only meeting this season. The Panthers used a 12-kill, 15-dig performance from senior Deidra Bohannon, who was playing her final match in blue and white. Freshman Shae Chapman tallied eight kills on .312 hitting and added three blocks on defense.
GSU hit .429 in the first set and held the Warhawks to just .089 hitting over the entire match. Senior Gabby Serafin's 17 digs paced the defense. Freshman Sarah Renner ran the offense and set the Panther attackers for 31 assists.
Georgia State wraps up the 2015 season on a positive note and will return six players that saw action on Sunday for the 2016 season.
