* Georgia State (4-11, 0-5 SBC) fell to South Alabama Saturday night in Mobile, Ala.
* The Panthers won the first two sets, but the Jaguars rallied to win the final three frames and win the match.
* The Panthers travel to Statesboro, Ga. Wednesday to face Georgia Southern.
MOBILE, Ala. – Georgia State's volleyball team battled with South Alabama to five sets Saturday night in Mobile, Ala. The Panthers gave up a two-set lead, losing 18-25, 19-25, 25-17, 25-23, 15-7.
Senior Deidra Bohannon led the team with 16 kills on .245 hitting. Bohannon passed Beth Van Fleet on the all-time kills list and now has 1,182, good for fourth-most in GSU history. Freshman Shae Chapman's five blocks was best on the team and two Panthers had 20 or more digs. Senior Gabby Serafin earned 25 digs, moving her to within six of the 1,000-dig club.
Georgia State won the first two sets, hitting .316 and .205, respectively. The Jaguars rallied to win Sets 3 and 4, sending the match to a fifth set. USA took a 7-2 lead and held off a Panther rally to win 15-7 and claim the match 3-2.
Saturday's five-set contest was the sixth of GSU's 2015 season. The Panthers have struggled in five-set matches, winning just one of the six.
Georgia State's next match is against rival Georgia Southern. The Panthers and Eagles face off Wednesday night in Statesboro, Ga. at 6:30 p.m. GSU returns home for a Sunday match against Little Rock in the Sports Arena.
