Lafayette, La. -- Georgia State dropped its second straight game to fifth-ranked UL Lafayette, 14-6, in a Sun Belt Conference game Saturday afternoon at M.L. "Tigue" Field.
Seth Harrison homered twice and drove in four runs for the Ragin' Cajuns (21-2, 5-0 SBC), who won their 11th straight game.
Ryan Blanton and Chase Raffield homered for Georgia State (10-13, 1-4 SBC), but both were solo shots.
Hitting in the leadoff spot for the first time, Blanton led off the game with his homer to right field, his second of the season, to give the Panthers the early 1-0 lead.
The Ragin' Cajuns answered as Caleb Adams led off the second inning with a home run, his second of the series. That started a nine-run inning for ULL, which strung together six straight hits off GSU starter Garrett Ford (0-1) and 10 in the inning to take a 9-1 lead.
"When you're going through a tough stretch like we are, what you're looking for as a coach is to see your team continue to fight and bring the effort," GSU head coach Greg Frady said. "Today was difficult, but the reality is that they had a nine-run inning, and that's really hard to overcome. It changes the whole dynamic of the game. I like the fact that we played through it and kept a professional attitude. I think our offensive guys did a better job.
"I think we've showed a lot of fight on Sundays regardless of what's happened on Friday and Saturday. We just have to get on the bus again tomorrow and be ready to play."
Raffield's third-ining homer was also to right field for his fifth of the season. Blanton added an RBI-single in the sixth, and Raffield drove in a run with a sacrifice fly.
Matt Rose collected three hits and an RBI for the Panthers, and Jody Stone came off the bench to contribute two hits.
ULL starter Carson Baranik moved to 5-0 on the season as he allowed four runs on eight hits with six strikeouts in seven innings of work.
The series concludes Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.
