Six First Place Finishes Pace Panthers at Sewanee

SEWANEE, Tenn. — Six members of the Georgia State track and field teams took home first place finishes at the Sewanee Invitational Sat. Feb. 25 to close out the 2012 indoor season.

The mile was an especially Panther-heavy event as the women took five of the top six spots and the men swept the top three places. GSU also took the top three spots in the women's 3000m with Jennifer Rubel and Alison Bishop finishing immediately behind the winner Showalter.

In addition to their top finishes, Kerney finished second in the 800m, Showalter was third in the mile and Colbert placed third in the 400m. Senior Chris Harper finished second in both the mile and 800m.

Freshman Aniya Moore finished third in the long jump and second in the triple jump, while rookie thrower Carresa Reeves placed second in the shot put.

Hosted by the University of the South at the Fowler Center Fieldhouse, the Sewanee Invitational concludes a five meet indoor schedule for the Panthers. Georgia State starts the 2012 outdoor track season on Sat. March 10 with a trip to the campus of Birmingham Southern.
