February Frenzy Leading To March Madness?

Wednesday, Feb. 22 - It must be the "February Frenzy" leading up to March Madness that has Hunterville's tent city primed for tonight's final home regular season game in the Sports Arena.

Six tents full of Panther students spent the night outside the arena to get ready for Wednesday night's final home game.  Six tents and six Panther seniors to be honored....hmmm, coincidence or omen?

The 19-9 Panthers play host to the 18-11 ODU Monarchs and GSU must win in order to keep any hopes of wrestling that final fourth first-day tournament bye from ODU. So, it should be a dandy of a game.

Come early, though. The first 200 fans get vouchers for free items from the concession stands. Another 500 fans will get free t-shirts from the Georgia Lottery. Other gifts will be given away, other contests will be held for prizes.

The adults who are members of the PAC can enjoy another free pre-game event in their usual party room. It's the last men's home game and last party, so don't miss the pre-game chalk talk.

Get to your seats early because the six seniors will be honored in the special ceremonies that start about 6:45. Give these talented six a fitting farewell round of applause.

Hunterville and the Panther fans have helped GSU to a 12-2 home record this year with their enthusiasm. The Panthers are playing well down the February Frenzy stretch, winning five of the last six with the only loss in overtime.

GSU feeds off the fans' frenzy by ranking in the top 20 in the nation in defense in fewest points allowed and most blocked shots. The fans have particularly enjoyed center Eric Buckner's 98 rejections on defense and thundering dunks on offense.

Feeling the frenzy? Fill the Sports Arena tonight.
