ATLANTA – Senior Jamiee Freeman posted her fourth double-double
of the season in Georgia State's 3-0 loss to conference rival James Madison
Friday night at the GSU Sports Arena. Freeman led GSU with 12 kills and was
second on the team with 15 digs.
The Panthers (3-16, 1-6 CAA) took the Dukes (11-11, 4-3 CAA)
to extra points in the first set but fell 28-26. In the second period, JMU
edged GSU 25-23 and the Dukes rallied in the third set to defeat the Panthers
25-19.
Freeman led GSU in blocking with three block assists and one
solo rejection while sophomore Andrea Book was second in blocking with a pair
of block assists.
Freshman Eliza Zachary was second in scoring for GSU with
nine kills while fellow rookie Dede Bohannon added eight kills. Freshman setter
Natalia Nieto played every rotation and earned a match-best 36 assists on the night.
Junior Emily Averbeck was the match leader for both teams with 24 digs.
JMU's Natalie Abel led all scorers with 14 kills while Sara
Patterson set up 26 assists for the Dukes.
The Panthers return to action Sunday at 1 p.m. as they host
