ATLANTA--The Georgia State football program will hold spring walk-on tryouts for members of the student body on Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 10:30 a.m. at the on-campus practice facility located at 188 MLK Drive.
ABOUT THE TRYOUTS:
Walk-on tryouts for the Georgia State football team are scheduled for Tuesday, Feb. 7 at 10:30 a.m., lasting for approximately one-and-a-half hours. The football practice site is located at 188 MLK Drive, about two blocks from the Sports Arena.
Tryouts are open to CURRENT GEORGIA STATE STUDENTS ONLY. You must be enrolled for the spring semester as a full-time student, and you must be a freshman or sophomore with a minimum GPA of 2.8.
All tryout participants must REGISTER IN ADVANCE. Participants must visit the GSU Football Office, located on the third floor of the Courtland North Building, beginning Jan. 16 to pick up a registration packet. Participants will be required to meet with compliance, sports medicine and academics between Jan. 16 and Jan. 30 in order to complete necessary paperwork.
All paperwork must be completed and submitted by Feb. 1 in order to participate. If you do not complete all necessary paperwork by the Feb. 1 deadline, you will not be permitted to participate in the tryouts. NO EXCEPTIONS. No walkups will be allowed to participate. Do not wait until Feb. 1 to begin the registration process.
Participants should arrive and stretch prior to 10:30 a.m. Latecomers will not be permitted to participate.
There is NO PARKING available at the GSU Practice Complex, so tryout participants should walk from campus.
Tryouts will be non-contact, with participants demonstrating speed, agility and football skills. Dress is shorts and sneakers or turf shoes.
Upon completion of tryouts, participants will be evaluated on talent and athleticism, and those who meet the criteria and fit roster needs will have an opportunity to earn a roster spot.
For those who make the team, all classes must begin at 11 a.m. or later because team practices take place in the mornings.
