ATLANTA--Eighty-six student-athletes from Georgia State's winter and spring sports have earned the Colonial Athletic Association Commissioner's Academic Award for the spring semester.
The CAA Commissioner's Academic Award recognizes student-athletes who maintain a cumulative or semester grade point average of 3.2 or higher. The spring semester includes the sports of men's and women's basketball, baseball, softball, men's and women's golf, men's and women's tennis and men's and women's track and field.
The list includes 16 individuals who also earned All-CAA honors in their sport.
All six members of Georgia State's nationally-ranked women's golf team earned the CAA Commissioner's Academic Award, while 15 of 22 members of the Panthers' CAA Champion softball team were honored, along with 19 student-athletes from the CAA Champion women's track and field program.
The Georgia State basketball programs boasted eight honorees, including three men and five women. Also on the list are 17 baseball players, seven men's golfers, six women's tennis players, six men's track and field athletes, and two men's tennis standouts.
Forty-eight GSU student-athletes from volleyball, soccer and cross country earned the CAA Commissioner's Academic Award for the fall, giving Georgia State a total of 134 honorees for the 2010-11 year.
