The Georgia State University Cheerleaders competed with over 250 other teams the weekend of April 8-10 in Daytona Beach, Fla., at the National Cheerleaders Association (NCA) College Championships.
Teams from all over the United States, Puerto Rico, and Canada attended the event and made it the largest in history of college competitions.
GSU took a group of 24 team members and competed in the Intermediate Coed division where they placed 10th in the nation in their division. GSU placed two places ahead of CAA rival James Madison.
"This is our first year back competing in this event, and we feel comfortable with our performance." said coach Darryl Lyons. "It was a very tough division and the point spread was close between the top 10 teams.”
"We look forward to returning next year and improving even more," GSU's first-year coach noted.
The performances of GSU as well as many other colleges and universities from the state of Georgia as well as others can be seen online at www.varsity.com. Click on NCA Nationals in Daytona to find the videos.
