Volleyball Drops 3-2 Decision to JMU

Despite 11 kills, 23 assists, and 12 digs from junior Ashley Jones, Georgia State volleyball (16-9, 3-6) fell to James Madison in five sets Friday night in Harrisonburg, Va. 2-3 (15-25, 25-21, 25-27, 26-24, 11-15). Jones records her sixth triple double of the season with her output.

Senior Jocelyn Waldern came up just shy of a double double, recording nine kills and eight digs.

Freshman Jamie Freeman eight kills and 20 digs. Sophomore Vineece Verdun recorded 14 kills, and junior Audrey Cantrell added 17 digs.

The Panthers dropped the first set 15-25 but responded well with a 25-21 win in the second set.

After forcing the Dukes to a 25-27 win in the fourth set, Georgia State evened the score a 2-2 with a 26-24 win as the Panthers roared back from a 23-24 deficit after facing match point.

Georgia State evened the final set score at 11-11, but allowed four straight points to the Dukes to drop the deciding set 11-15.

Georgia State now falls to 1-2 on their six game conference road trip, looking ahead to a Saturday night match at George Mason tomorrow night at 7 p.m.
