ATLANTA ? Rachel Cunningham connected with a one-out double, bringing home two runs for the Panthers, as Georgia State (34-16, 12-5 CAA) took game three of the Colonial Athletic Association series against UNC-Wilmington (12-30-1, 3-15 CAA), 2-1, at Boseman Field on Sunday.

Junior right-hander Madi Gore tossed the win for State, allowing just one run on five hits and two walks, while fanning four Seahawk batters.  She improved her record to 13-7 on the season.

Senior Jessica Gowin and freshman Catherine Lee each collected two hits on the day, scoring one run a piece.  Sophomore Danielle Roddy also hit .500 on the day, batting 2-for-4 with a pair of singles.

State collected both of their runs in the top of the fifth when Lee led off with a walk. Sophomore Lily Skelton sacrificed Lee to second. Gowin singled to right field, putting runners on first and third. Sophomore infielder Cunningham doubled, allowing Lee and Gowin to score, giving the Panthers a 2-0 lead.

UNCW fought back in the bottom of the sixth, as Meghan Murray and Morgan Walters connected with a pair of singles, taking advantage of a Panther error and putting the Seahawks within one.

Gore held UNCW in the bottom of the seventh, as she recorded all three outs for the Panthers, taking the win 2-1.

Georgia State will seek to lock up a CAA Tournament berth as it concludes the regular season next weekend and host Drexel in the final CAA three-game match-up, with a doubleheader slated to begin at 2 p.m. on Saturday, and a single game on Sunday, Senior Day, beginning at 12 p.m. at Bob Heck Field.
