Filipe Carvalho enters his first season as an assistant goalie coach with Georgia State bringing his knowledge of the goalkeeper position with him after spending the last four seasons (2005-08) with the Panthers starting in goal. Earned All-CAA first team honors during his senior season in 2008.

Cavalho started 64 games as a goalkeeper during his four year career at Georgia State. During all four years he made the Dean's list and earning ESPN The Magizine Academic All-District honors in his final two years.

Filipe also finished with a couple of Georgia State records with his play on the field. After a break out 2006 season in which he led the nation in saves per game (6.4), Carvalho followed up that season ranking sixth in the country in total saves with 108 in the 2007 season. Carvalho finished his Panther's career with 396 saves putting him first in the record books for most saves in a career. Also Filipe finished with nine shutouts placing him third all-time and tied for first in saves for a season with 113 back in 2005.

In his final season in 2008 Filipe served as the Panther's co-captain and Vice President of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee. Carvalho also became the first Georgia State player to be named to the NSCAA/ adidas Scholar All-American second team.

During the 2009 Georgia State Athletics Banquet Filipe won the award for Panther Character. Filipe was honored by the Boy Scouts as a nominee for the Peach of an Athlete Role Model award.
