Troy Kruchten was elevated to assistant coach of the nickels and special teams in January 2026 after joining the Georgia State staff as outside linebackers coach in 2025.

Prior to arriving in Atlanta, Kruchten served as a graduate assistant at the University of Florida, working primarily with the linebackers. In that role, he assisted with the edge and linebackers groups while also serving as an assistant to the defensive coordinator, contributing to film study, scouting and game preparation.

Kruchten began his coaching career following his playing days at Louisiana, where he competed at linebacker from 2019–21. He appeared in 25 games and recorded 11 total tackles while helping the Ragin’ Cajuns earn a share of the Sun Belt title in 2020 and capture the 2021 Sun Belt Conference Championship. He spent two seasons at Southeastern Louisiana before transferring to Louisiana.

A native of The Woodlands, Texas, Kruchten prepped at The Woodlands High School, where he earned first team all-district and second team all-county honors.
