Leigh Barton currently serves as Associate Athletics Director for External Relations for Georgia State Athletics. In this role, which she transitioned to in early 2023, Barton oversees ticketing, marketing, corporate sales, communications, creative services, and broadcasting. She also serves as administrator for the cheerleading and spirit squad, and is the athletics liaison for the marching band.
Barton joined the Georgia State Athletics staff in January 2016 as an Assistant A.D. for Development and was promoted to Associate A.D. in August 2018. In this role, she oversaw the day-to-day administration and all fundraising efforts for the athletics department.
Barton came to Georgia State from Appalachian State where she had been a part of the athletics administration since 2011. She joined the Appalachian State athletics staff as a Development Officer and was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director in 2013.
Barton played soccer for the Mountaineers and earned a bachelor’s degree before joining the Appalachian State staff full-time. In 2015, she received her master’s degree in Sport Administration from Ohio University.
Leigh and her husband, David have two children: a daughter, Miller, and a son, Hayes.
