John Adams

John Adams enters his second year as an assistant coach working with the nicklebacks.

Adams joined the Georgia State defensive staff as nickels coach in 2024, after leading Cedar Grove High School to two state championships in the last three years.

Adams served as the head coach at Cedar Grove--just a few miles from the Georgia State campus--from 2021-23 and led the Saints to three straight berths in the Class AAA state title game, including championships in 2021 and 2023, sandwiched around a last-second loss in 2022.

In his three seasons at Cedar Grove, Adams led the Saints to an impressive 33-11 record.

Before he was elevated to head coach, Adams served as Cedar Grove's defensive backs coach from 2016-20 and helped the program to two more state titles in 2018 and 2019.

Before Cedar Grove, Adams was an assistant coach on the Miller Grove and North Atlanta coaching staffs.

Adams attended Southwest Dekalb High School, where he played under legendary Georgia high school football head coach Buck Godfrey. He went on to the University of South Carolina, where he was a member of the baseball team.
