Ansley Rice was elevated to the Director of Communications at Georgia State University in July 2024, where she oversees and directs all communications, social media and public relations efforts for the department’s 16 NCAA Division I programs.
In this role, she serves as a strategic advisor on institutional messaging and brand positioning, guiding integrated communications strategies across digital, social, web and broadcast platforms. Rice leads a creative and communications team responsible for storytelling and content development. She also oversees the department’s primary digital platforms, while cultivating relationships with media, alumni and donors to elevate the Georgia State Athletics brand.
Prior to her promotion, Rice served as Communications Manager at Georgia State from November 2023 to July 2024, where she managed communications strategies and served as the primary media contact for women’s basketball, softball, track and field, and volleyball. In that role, she led media relations efforts, developed digital and written content, and contributed to the department’s broader storytelling and engagement initiatives.
Before joining Georgia State, Rice served as Social Media and Marketing Manager for Rugby ATL, Atlanta’s former professional rugby organization. There, she developed and executed digital marketing campaigns to drive ticket sales and brand growth, while increasing social media engagement using audience-focused content strategies.
Rice began her career in athletic communications at Kennesaw State University, where she served as an Athletic Communications intern. She supported media relations, content creation, and digital communications for multiple Division I programs, producing press materials, feature stories, and managing game day communications to enhance program visibility and storytelling.
In addition to her work in athletics, Rice has experience in community and nonprofit communications. She served as Community Relations Manager for NZone Sports NW Georgia, where she led marketing and social media strategy and managed internal operations and staff. She also worked with the National Down Syndrome Congress in a communications and media relations role, helping lead campaigns for major fundraising events that generated approximately $300,000 annually while increasing audience engagement.
A native of Dacula, Ga., Rice is a graduate of Kennesaw State University, where she earned a Bachelor of Science in Communications and Emerging Media with a concentration in Journalism and a minor in Leadership Studies.
