Biography

2005-06: Sheriee had a record-breaking junior season for the Panthers. She earned two individual All-Conference nods, winning both the 100 and 400-meter hurdles at the CAA Championships, earning her two spots at the NCAA East Regional. Sheriee set a personal-best in the indoor 60m hurdles (8.47) at the ECAC Indoor Championships, finishing in third place. Sheriee also ran a personal-best time (7.69) to cross the line seventh in the 60m dash at the ECAC Championships. Sheriee set a new school record in the 100m hurdles at the Georgia Tech Invitational (13.62). Sheriee was named CAA Women’s Track Athlete of the Week for the week of April 3-9. Sheriee was honored for her great season by the GSU athletic department, naming her the Female Student Athlete of the Year.

2004-05: Sheriee earned her first individual All-Conference nod as a Panther in 2005, finishing as the runner-up at the conference championship meet in the 100-meter hurdles.  She set a new school record in the 100-meter hurdles at the Spec Towns Invitational (13.96) only to break it again a week later (13.88) while placing fifth at Clemson’s Orange and Purple Classic. Willis qualified to compete in the NCAA East Region Championship where she placed 21st.  She also ran the 100-meter dash, setting a new PR at the Spec Towns Invitational (12.26), and she placed second at the Morehouse Relays in the 400-meter hurdles in a time of 1:05.19.

2003-04: The freshman stepped up and became a major contributor in her first season as a Panther. Willis ran the 100 and 400-meter hurdles, while playing a key role on the relay teams. She earned All-Conference with the 4x100 relay team that was second at the A-Sun Championship in 46.32. That team also went to the Penn Relays and finished 7th in the college division in 46.50. In the hurdles, Willis had a season best 14.24 in the 100 meter event and was fourth in the A-Sun Meet in 14.63 to score for the team. In the 400 meters, she had a 1:03.49 to win the Emory Classic and was eighth at the A-Sun Meet in 1:05.28. During the indoor season, Willis ran the 60-meter hurdles with a best of 8.89 at UNC and 8.97 at the Clemson Classic

Prep: Willis exerted herself at R.W. Groves High School in track and field and volleyball, where she won the school’s MVP award in track and field, and was sixth in the state in the 300-meter hurdles in 2003, and fourth in the state in the 100-meter hurdles in 2002. She made it to the state championships all four years of high school.

Personal:

Willis was born June 6, 1985 in Munich, Germany. She is the daughter of Ernest C and Tami S. Willis. She has two brothers, both of whom participate in track and field.
