Biography
Track and Field 2010: Redshirted indoor season...Competed in the long and triple jumps...Jumped 4.84m (15-10.50) in the long jump at the Gem of the Hills Invitational ...At the CAA Championships jumped 10.70m (35-01.25) in the triple jump...At the CAA Championships recorded a long jump of 4.47m (14-07.98)...Was named to the President's List and received CAA All-Academic honors.
Track and Field 2009: Competed in the long jump and triple jump during the indoor season...Posted her best long jump of 4.71m at the Clemson Games and her best triple jump of 10.94m at the Hampton University Invitational...Competed in the long jump and triple jump during the outdoor season...Posted her season-best mark of 4.97m in the long jump at the CAA Championships where she placed 18th...Recorded season-best mark in the triple jump at the Gem of the Hills meet where she leaped for 11.36m.
Track and Field 2008: Competed in the long jump and leaped 15’4.25" at the FSU Snowbird Invitational...Posted a 15’0.50"mark in the long jump at the Clemson Invitational...Competed in the triple jump at the Niswonger Foundation Invitational, finishing with a 34’09.75" mark in the finals...At the CAA Championship, jumped for 35’11.25"...Named to the Dean’s list in the spring and received CAA All-Academic honors.
Track and Field 2007: In her first year with the Panthers, Shannon participated in sprints and jumps...Saw action in her first collegiate meet at the Niswonger Foundation Invitational where she competed in the 200m dash and finished in 29.41 seconds...Posted a top-five finish in the triple jump at the FSU Snowbird Invitational with a distance of 35’2"...Was named to the A.D. Honor Roll for the spring semester and also recieved the CAA Commissioner’s Academic Award.
Prep: Shannon comes to the Panthers from Thomson High School, where she lettered in basketball and softball for four years and track three years...Ranked 14th in her high school class academically...Her personal best in the triple jump is 33’11...Led her softball team in wins in 2006 and her basketball team in scoring each of the last three years.
Personal: Shannon Williams’ father, Willie, was her high school track coach...Her twin sister, Shaina, is also a member of the track and field team at Georgia State...In addition to track, Shannon received recruiting offers to play basketball...Double majoring in social work and nursing.
