Biography

2005-06: Porscha competed during the indoor season for the Panthers. She improved her personal-best time in the 200m with a time of 25.27 at the Sykes-Sabock Challenge. Porscha opened the outdoor season with the women’s team and ran at the 49er Classic.  Unfortunately, her season was cut short due to an injury.  Porscha was named to the Dean’s List and the Athletic Directors Honor Roll in both her fall and spring semesters at State. Porscha also earned a Commissioner’s Academic award from the CAA.

 

2004-05: As a sophomore, Porscha set new career bests in the 100 and 200 meter sprints and placed 13th in the hundred at the A-Sun Championship meet. She ran the fastest 100 meters of any Panther in 2005 when she finished fifth at the Spec Towns Invitational in 11.86.  Bailey also ran her career best 200 meters at that meet, crossing the finish line in 24.88. During the indoor season, Porscha ran the fastest 60 meters of her career at State when she placed eighth at the Clemson Indoor meet in 7.40. She also was a key part of the 4x100 meter relay team that qualified for the NCAA East Region Championships and placed third in the conference.

 

2003-04: Bailey’s inaugural college season was fruitful as she made All-Conference with the 4x100 relay team. That unit logged a 46.32 to win the ASun and had a season best 46.14 at the Yellow Jacket Invitational. Bailey ran a 12.46 100 meters to finish fourth at the Emory Classic and a 25.66 best in the 200 meters at the UGA Invitational.

 

Prep:  Porscha Bailey was captain of her Warner-Robins track team for two years, earning four varsity letters. Porscha was the 2001 Region 5A champion, 2001, 2002 and 2003 Region 5A State participant, and a 2003 city champion in the 100 meter and 200 meter events. She also played softball and basketball.

 

Personal:Bailey was born Aug. 28, 1985 in Charleston, S.C. She is the daughter of John H. and Debbie R. Bailey. Her father played basketball at the University of Wisconsin at Madison from 1978-1982.
