Biography

2006-07:  In her junior year with the Panthers, Denice has proved to be a stellar student and athlete.  She was named a Faculty-Scholar for earning a 4.0 in the fall and placed on the Dean’s list in the spring.  She was also awarded the CAA Commissioner’s Academic Award, was named CAA Performer of the Week, and she was also selected for the NCAA Indoor/Outdoor Division I All-Academic team.  Denice earned All-CAA honors for finishing second in the 100m and 200m dashes at the CAAs, where she set Georgia State records for both events (11.63, 23.54).  She also had seven individual top-ten finishes on the season.  She qualified for the NCAA Regionals in the 100m, 200m, and 4x100m and finished in the top 15 in her individual events.  Denice earned All-CAA honors as a member of State’s 4x100m relay team which recorded four top-five finishes and won the CAA Championship meet, also setting a CAA meet record (45.07). 

 

2005-06: Denice set many personal-record times during her sophomore season at State.  She ran personal-best times in the 60-meter dash (7.92), the 200 (24.89) and the 400 (57.34) during the indoor season. Denice continued her success during the outdoor season, setting a new best time in the 100 (11.77) at the Yellow Jacket Invitational. She crossed the line fourth when she set her new personal best in the 200 (24.05) at the UGA Invitational. Denice was a member of the NCAA East Regional qualifying 4x100m relay team that ran a school-best 44.89 at the Georgia Tech Invitational. Denice received praise from Georgia State when she finished the fall semester with a perfect 4.0 GPA. She was named a Faculty Scholar and was on both the Dean’s List and the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll. The CAA presented Denice with a Commissioner’s Academic Award.

 

2004-05: Denice finished eighth in the 400 meters at the Atlantic Sun Championship meet as a freshman in 2005, by running a season-best time of 57.78. She ran the 200 meters in 25.38 at Clemson’s Orange and Purple Classic where she placed 12th. Vance also competed in the 100-meter dash in the spring, where she clocked her fastest time of 12.49 at the Georgia Tech Invitational.  During the indoor season she ran her best times at the Niswonger Foundation Invitational.

 

Prep: Denice was part of Tri Cities High School’s 4x400 meter relay team that placed third at the 2004 state championship. She also earned varsity letters in softball and basketball.

 

Personal: Denice was born on February 25, 1985, in Palo Alto, California. She is the daughter of Levi and Ann Vance, and has an older brother, Levi III.
