Biography

2006-07:  Ashley competed in six races for State this year in her third year with the team.  She finished with a time of 23:44.1 in the 6k at the Chile Pepper Invitational and Ashley finished just shy of a new personal best in the 5k at the Greater Louisville Classic, finishing in 19:58.58.  In outdoor track, Ashley twice surpassed her previous 5,000m run personal best, finishing in 18:36.47 at the FSU Snowbird and later finishing in 18:28.81 at the Duke Invitational.  For her academic work, she was named to the Dean’s List in the fall and earned the CAA Commissioner’s Academic Award.

 

2005-06: In her sophomore season, Ashley continued to improve in cross-country. She ran a personal best time of 19:57 in the 5K at the Georgia Collegiate Championships. Ashley ran a season-best time (23:49) in the 6K at the NCAA Cross-Country South Regional. Ashley competed in the 3000m and 5000m during the indoor season for the Lady Panthers. She ran a team season-best 19:59.94 in the 5K at the Niswonger Foundation Invitational. The outdoor season was also kind to Ashley. She ran her fastest outdoor 5K time of the season at the Florida State Opener (19:07.73) for a 13th place finish. Ashley earned a Commissioner’s Academic Award for her work in the classroom.

 

2004-05: Ashley ran five cross country races for the Lady Panthers in the fall of 2004. She ran a season best time of 20:20 at the Georgia Collegiate Championships on her way to a 27 th place finish. In track, King ran the 5,000 and 10,000 meter events during the outdoor season. She placed 14 th in the 10K at the conference championship meet, and ran her fastest 5K of the season at the 49er Classic (19:06.05). During indoor track she ran the 3000 meters, clocking a season best time of 11:09.86 to place sixth at the Clemson Indoor meet.

 

Prep: King was third in the State of Georgia at the Cross Country Championship Meet and fourth in the 1,500 meters at the State Track Championships during her senior year. She was a two-time Region and County Champion in both cross country and track for Flowery Branch High School, north of metro Atlanta. She was a four-time All-State Cross Country honoree and a three-time All-State Track honoree.

 

Personal: Ashley was born on October 14, 1985, in Gainesville, Ga. She is on of three children of Stephen and Brenda King.
