Biography

Spring 2007: Earned the 2007 CAA Championships Most Outstanding Performer...2007 First Team All-CAA in singles and Second Team All-CAA in doubles with Anze Cevka...CAA Singles Player of the Week on April 9...Went 3-4 against ranked opponents...Had a 10 match win streak...Ranked as high as No. 55 by the ITA...Defeated No. 18 and No. 24 Harel Srugo of Old Dominion respectively twice in three weeks...Victory over ODU at the CAA Championships help lift Georgia State to first CAA Championship title...Made the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and CAA Commissioner’s Award.

 

Fall 2006: Competed in all but one tournament this season...Posted a 9-5 singles record and a 5-4 doubles record...Won the Thomasville Invitational doubles championship with Nejc Podkrajsek (3-0)...Other partner (Anze Cevka) was ranked No. 19 in the nation, the highest ranking received by a Georgia State men’s tennis duo...Went 3-1 in singles play at two tournaments (Thomasville Invitational and ITA Region III)...Named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll.

 

Spring 2006: Martin finished the dual match season with a 13-7 singles record...He had a victory over #94 Sandlet Koning of #24 Clemson University...Martin was named to the All-CAA Singles first team...Martin and doubles teammate Anze Cevka finished the dual season with an 8-6 record...The team was ranked as high as #56 in the nation...The duo garnered All-CAA Doubles first team honors...Martin was named the 2005-06 Georgia State Male Athlete of the Year...In the classroom, Martin earned a spot on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and was once again recognized by the CAA with a Commissioner’s Academic Award.

 

Fall 2005: Went 8-7 in singles and 7-4 in doubles...Was selected to compete in the ITA All-American Tournament...Played his best matches in the Georgia Tech Invitational winning three of four...Posted a 3-2 record with Anze Cevka in doubles match play...Ranked 15th in the ITA Southeast Region with Cevka.

 

Spring 2005: Posted a team second best record of 13-5...Played the majority of the season at the No. 2 position recording a 12-5 outing...Won his only match at the No. 1 spot...Doubled with three partners; Jacek Twarowski (8-3), Jamie Rodriguez (1-0), and Frank Suro (5-0).

 

Fall 2004: Went 13-4 in singles play and 5-4 in doubles...Advanced to the singles qualifying round of 32 at the ITA All-American in Chattanooga, Tenn. after posting five straight wins at the tournament and working his way out of the prequalifying rounds...Posted a 2-0 singles record at the Gator Invitational.

 

Spring 2004: Went 17-12 in singles play and 8-6 in dual match play at Florida...Had a 19-12 doubles record and went 13-8 in dual matches...Spent the majority of the time on court three with doubles partner Janne Holmia where the two went 7-5...Also, teamed with Stefan Tell on the No. 3 doubles court as the pair went 6-3...Split time with Ryan Sherry at the No. 6 singles slot where he posted a 6-4 record.

 

Fall 2003: Posted a 9-6 record in singles play...Nine singles wins ranked as the second highest total on the squad...Had two wins over ranked opponents as he defeated No. 91 Rahim Esmail of Kentucky at the Bulldog Scramble (5-7,6-2,6-4) and Texas A&M ‘s 99th ranked Khaled El dorry in the prequalifying round of 32 at the ITA All- American in Chattanooga, Tenn. (6-4,7-5)...Went 6-4 in doubles play and owned a 4-3 record when paired with teammate Chris Brandi.

 

Prep: Graduated from the German School of Quito...Ranked inside the top 50 singles by the ITF and the top 25 in doubles...Was the national singles and doubles champion in all age groups...Played in Wimbledon Juniors...Coached by Felipe Alacon...Also competed in soccer, volleyball and track in high school.
