Biography

Spring 2007: Primarily played singles at the No. 6 position...Finished the season with a 10-8 record...Clinched the victory and the CAA Championship against Old Dominion on April 22...Received CAA Commissioner’s Academic Award.

 

Fall 2006: Won the Georgia Tech Invitational consolation bracket winning his last four matches to post a 4-1 record...Recorded an overall mark of 7-3...Participated in three tournaments...Won two of three at the Southern Intercollegiate Championships...Went 1-1 at the ITA Region III tournament...Received Athletic Director’s Honor Roll honors.

 

Spring 2006: Finished the dual match season with a 6-5 singles record...Daniel was 1-0 at the No. 4 spot, 0-2 at the No. 5 and 5-3 at the No. 6...He finished the season 1-1 in doubles play...Daniel earned a spot on the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll and received a Commissioner’s Academic Award.

 

Fall 2005: Named to the Athletic Director’s Honor Roll...Earned Dean’s List honors.

 

Spring 2005: Posted a 4-3 dual record...Was 2-1 at the No. 6 spot, 1-2 at No. 5 and 1-0 at No. 4.

 

Fall 2004: With partner Jamie Rodriguez, advanced to the quarterfinals in the doubles competition at the Southern Intercollegiate Championship...Won the ITA All-American singles pre-qualifier to advance to the round of 128 before being eliminated...Went 2-1 in doubles competition.

 

Spring 2004: The freshman was recognized for his potential by being named to the Atlantic Sun All-Freshman team...Daniel played No. 5 and No. 6 singles in the spring and posted a dual and overall 8-4 record. He was 2-1 at the No. 5 slot and 6-3 at No. 6... He enjoyed picking up the final points for the Panthers in a come-from-behind win over Hampton University... His first taste of the conference tournament saw him post a 6-2, 6-0 win over a Stetson foe...In doubles, Balog ended his fi rst year with a 4-2 record...He was 2-0 with Jaime Rodriguez as a partner, 1-0 with Matija Sulin and 1-2 with Nicolas Lupica.

 

Prep: Daniel was a winner and runner-up in several of his German tournaments.

 

Personal: Two of his brothers (Stephan and Aron) also compete in tennis...Favorite athletes are David Beckham and Zinedine Zidane...Favorite sports team is the Bayern Munich... Enjoys playing soccer...Major at Georgia State is business.
