Biography

Coach Inman on Oakey: "Has been working both on the course and in the classroom to make himself a better student-athlete. I think he made great strides this summer and will continue during the upcoming season."

2009 Amateur: Played in a pair of tournaments over the summer, missing the cut by just one stroke at the Greystone Invitational after a second round 73.

2008-09: Made his collegiate debut at State Farm Laker Collegiate and shot a final round 78.

2007-08: Redshirted freshman season, retaining four years of eligibility.

Amateur:  This past summer, Oakey finished 13th at the Pompshaker Invitational...Also got a chance to play with the pros this summer, participating as an amateur on the Gateway Tour...He held the low scoring average for the South Jersey Golf Foundation in 2005...Won the Centerton SJGA in 2005...Oakey finished fourth in the Huntsville Amateur where he shot rounds of 74 and 70 in 2006.

Prep: Oakey graduated from LaGrange High School in 2007 where he lettered in golf each year...Won the 2007 LaGrange High School Coaches Award...Oakey was a member of the LaGrange High School golf team that was the 2004 State runner up team...His team finished in the top-12 places at State in each of his four years on the team.

Personal: Stephen Louis Oakey was born August 25, 1988 in LaGrange, Ga. ... His parents are David Oakey and Laura Roman ... His older brother, Derek, played golf for Georgia State (2002-07) ...He has two relatives, Paul and Grahm Oakey, who played professional soccer...Currently majoring in managerial science.
