Wade Johnston joined the Georgia State Athletics Department as the Director of Video and Creative Services in April, 2013.
Johnston is responsible for directing all video operations within the Georgia State University Athletics Department. In addition to oversight, production and direction of recaps, features, promotional videos, highlight packages, and fundraising/marketing videos; oversee management, set-up and coordination of all press conference and player/coach interview shoots; , he also coordinates the distribution of video across to all outside media outlets and on georgiastatesports.com; and supervises the Assistant Director of Video and student assistants/interns.
Upon his arrival to Georgia State, Johnston rebranded the video department to PantherVision and upgraded all video production to high definition. He also created a system for increased production and archiving all video housed within the department and on GeorgiaStateSports.com
Prior to his arrival at Georgia State, Johnston was the Athletics Web Videographer at the University of Memphis from 2012 to 2013. He assisted with the creation the Memphis Tiger Network and supervised all online productions including all live streamed press conferences, live game productions and special events for all sports and departments. Johnston also assisted as video production contact for the the University of Memphis football program by creating promotional videos, recruiting and motivational pieces, and facility tour videos.
Prior to the University of Memphis, Johnston served as the Athletics Video Coordinator at USC Upstate from 2011-12. Johnston created, operated, and developed all Daktronics Big Screen productions for men’s and women’s Basketball and volleyball programs. He served as the departments’ graphic designer and supervised a student operated Asun.TV broadcast.
Originally from Madison, Ga., Johnston graduated from Georgia College, in Milledgeville, GA in 2007 with Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communications. Johnston was recognized in 2012 with a NACMA “Best-Of” Award for his 2011 USC Upstate Volleyball intro video. He and his wife Laura reside in the Atlanta area.
