Misty Brown was promoted to Assistant Athletics Director for Development in July 2013. She originally joined the Panther staff in 2011 as Assistant Athletics Director for AD Operations where she worked closely with the athletics director to coordinate department events, strategic initiatives and special projects.

Brown is currently responsible for major gift fundraising for all athletic priorities including capital projects,  women’s excellence fund, and events.

Brown joined GSU after five years at the University of Central Florida where she served as Assistant Director of Development and Event for the UCF Athletics Association and UCF Foundation. Before going to UCF in 2006, she served as community programs manager for the Town of Miami Lakes, Fla. and spent four years as special events coordinator for the City of Hollywood, Fla. Brown began her career as special events coordinator for the Orange Bowl Committee in Miami, FL where she coordinated Orange Bowl Festival ancillary events and served as the primary liaison to the team host committees.

Brown is a  graduate of the University of Florida, where she lettered for the Gators' basketball team. A native of Savannah, Ga., the former Misty Knight is married to Teako Brown, and the couple has one daughter, Brooklyn.
