Greenwell previously worked with Georgia State Director of Athletics Cheryl L. Levick at Maryland.
Greenwell serves as the day-to-day chief operating officer for the Georgia State athletics department and the second-in-command to Levick, with supervisory duties over several senior level staff members and athletic teams.
“I am delighted to have James join our executive team at Georgia State. He is a key element in the development and success of our overall strategic plan for athletics and in the implementation of football,” said Levick.
“Our goal is to have a successful, broad-based athletics program. James brings leadership, experience and innovation to our staff. His facilities and game management expertise will help us greatly as we build Georgia State athletics.”
