Charles Kistler

Biography

Charles Kistler has been a member of the Georgia State athletics staff since 2013 and is currently serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. This season he is working primarily with the Panthers’ baseball program after working with the GSU football and men’s and women’s tennis teams in 2013-14.

A native of Cumming, Ga., Kistler is currently working toward a Master of Science in athletic training from Georgia State and plans to complete his degree in May of 2015. He graduated from Georgia Southern in May of 2013 with a double major in athletic training and exercise science.

While with the Eagles, he worked as a student athletic trainer with a cheerleading squad that won a national championship. He also worked with the football, men’s soccer, swimming and diving and volleyball teams during his time in Statesboro, Ga.

Kistler also brings NFL experience to the Sports Medicine department at GSU. While an undergrad, he served as an intern athletic trainer with the New England Patriots during the summer of 2012. He has also worked as a seasonal assistant athletic trainer with the Atlanta Falcons for over two years.

He is a Licensed Athletic Trainer by the State of Georgia Department of Health and a Certified Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification. Kistler is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and is certified in CPR and first aid by the American Red Cross. He is also a certified sound assisted soft tissue mobilization specialist.
