Aaron Powell

Biography

Aaron Powell has been a member of the Georgia State athletics staff since 2013 and is currently serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer. This season he is working primarily with the men’s soccer team after spending 2013-14 as the certified athletic trainer for the Panthers’ cross country and track & field teams.

A native of Seward, Neb., Powell also occasionally works with the Atlanta Silverbacks of the National American Soccer League (NASL) as a certified athletic trainer. Additionally, he spent two years with Real Salt Lake of Major League Soccer (MLS) working as an intern athletic trainer, and he assisted with the United States Women’s National Team during a match against Canada in 2012.

Powell is currently working toward a Master of Science in sports medicine at Georgia State. He graduated from Utah with a B.S. in athletic training and a minor in nutrition in May of 2013. While with the Utes, he worked primarily with the football and women’s soccer teams but also served as a research and teaching assistant.

Powell is a Licensed Athletic Trainer by the State of Georgia Department of Health and a Certified Athletic Trainer by the National Athletic Trainers’ Association Board of Certification. He is a member of the National Athletic Trainers’ Association and is certified in CPR and first aid by the American Heart Association. Powell is also a certified emergency medical responder by the American Red Cross.
