Simonds Named GSU Student-Athlete of the Week

ATLANTA -Sophomore D'Marcus Simonds of GSU men's basketball is this week's Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week, powered by the U.S. Marines.

Simonds led the Panthers to a split of two games this week while averaging 23.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.5 steals and 2.0 blocks per game.

The sophomore opened the week with a career-high 35 points on 13-of-24 shooting in Georgia State's 77-74 overtime loss to Liberty. Simonds added five rebounds, two blocks and two steals in a career-high 43 minutes for the Panthers.

On Saturday, Simonds finished with 12 points, six rebounds, three assists, three steals and two blocked shots in 36 minutes as Georgia State defeated Montana 71-68.

For the season, Simonds is averaging a team-high 19.6 points and 5.6 rebounds per game. He has now scored in double figures in 26-straight games dating back to last season.

Georgia State will conclude a three-game home-stand on Tuesday hosting Point at  7 p.m. in the GSU Sports Arena.
