Georgia State men's soccer student-athlete Eddie Wilding is this week’s GSU Student-Athlete of the Week presented by Georgia Power.
The senior stepped up with two goals to lead Georgia State to a 3-2 win over No. 21/28 Brown on Friday night. Wilding was awarded a penalty kick in the first half to produce the momentum-setting first goal at 27:39. Just three minutes later, Wilding broke into the box and got off a shot that bounced off the goalkeeper’s shoulder and into the goal for a 2-0 lead 30 minutes into the match. GSU would never trail as a result.
Wilding was a perfect 100% as he had just two shots and both found the net to provide GSU’s first home win after opening with four of the first five matches on the road.
For the season, Wilding leads GSU with four goals and two assists for 10 points in six matches. He’s converted four goals in just 11 attempts, 7 on goal (.636). That will rank him among Sun Belt leaders with 1.67 points per game and shooting percentage.
Wilding extended his streak to 60 consecutive matches played in his GSU career and once again played all 90 minutes in Friday’s win. He led GSU last year in minutes played.
