ATLANTA- This week's Georgia State Student-Athlete of the Week presented by the U.S. Marines is women's basketball's Alaysia Mitchell.
The junior Panther from Marietta, Ga. (Wheeler High School and Pensacola State) poured in 17 points on 8-of-12 field goals, while grabbing nine rebounds, in leading Georgia State to the opening-day win in the Stetson Hatter Classic on Sunday in DeLand, Fla.
Mitchell helped the Panthers win for the third time in four games and advance to Monday's championship game as GSU rolled past Bethune-Cookman 68-61.
The 6-0 forward is averaging 10.1 points per game and 6.9 rebounds.
