ATLANTA – Georgia State women's soccer returns home as the Panthers face Sun Belt foe Arkansas State on Friday, Oct. 2 at 7:00 p.m. ET.
This contest marks the 13th time these two teams have played each other. The Panthers are 2-6-4 in the series, winning the previous matchup on the road 2-0 on Oct. 18, 2025.
The Last Time Out
Georgia State faced South Alabama, winning 2-1. The Panthers started the scoring early, when they took a 1-0 lead in the fifth minute off a Sunniyah Tucker goal, her sixth of the season.
After conceding a goal in the 24th minute, Georgia State found its game-winning goal off a header from Naiya McFarlane, assisted on a corner kick from Aaliyah Faddoul.
Goalkeeper Alondra Iriarte held the Jaguars to their lone goal thanks to three saves, two in the second half. It was the first time since 2020 the Panthers beat South Alabama.
Perfect on the Home Pitch
Georgia State has been a perfect 5-0-0 playing at the GSU Soccer Complex in the 2026 season.
On Aug. 16, the Panthers dominated Truett-McConnell 7-0 on Senior Night, with Faddoul recording a hat trick. A week later, Georgia State protected its home again, beating Wofford 3-0 thanks to a pair of early goals from Faddoul and a second-half strike from Tucker.
The Panthers found their third home win against ETSU on Sep. 3, winning 2-1. Freshman Brielle Delgado found the back of the net in the first minute, and Tucker scored in the 22nd minute. The duo both scored again on Sep. 13 to defeat Gardner-Webb 2-0 and protect the pitch for the fourth time.
Most recently, Georgia State took down in-state rival Georgia Southern 2-1. Senior Himari Sato scored the opening goal in the 30th minute, and Faddoul provided a second goal off a penalty in the 50th minute.
Scouting the Red Wolves
Arkansas State comes into the game with a 3-4-2 record, led by 12th-year Head Coach Brian Dooley. The Red Wolves have gone 1-2-0 in conference play.
They opened Sun Belt action with a 3-0 loss at Georgia Southern and a 1-0 loss to Southern Miss. On Sep. 27, they picked up a win against ULM, 3-2.
