ATLANTA – Georgia State women's soccer (5-3-1, 0-1 Sun Belt) looks to rebound from a tough road loss as the Panthers host in-state rival Georgia Southern (6-1-2) on Thursday night. Kickoff is set for 7 p.m. ET at the GSU Soccer Complex, with the match streaming live on ESPN+.

This contest marks the 23rd time these two teams have played each other. The Panthers are 17-10-5 in the series, winning the previous matchup on the road 2-1 and having won three of the last four.

The Last Time Out

Georgia State faced Appalachian State, dropping the match 1-0. The game was scoreless in the first half, thanks to four saves from junior goalkeepers Alondra Iriarte.

In the 48th minute, the Mountaineers broke through, finding the back of the net off a kick from Ellie Garrison. The Panthers would remain scoreless through the game, not recording a shot in the second half.

Perfect on the Home Pitch

Georgia State has been a perfect 4-0-0 playing at the GSU Soccer Complex in the 2026 season.

On Aug. 16, the Panthers dominated Truett-McConnell 7-0 on Senior Night, with senior Aaliyah Faddoul recording a hat trick. A week later, Georgia State protected its home again, beating Wofford 3-0 thanks to a pair of early goals from Faddoul and a second-half strike from junior Sunniyah Tucker.

The Panthers found their third home win against ETSU on Sep. 3, winning 2-1. Freshman Brielle Delgado found the back of the net in the first minute, and Tucker scored in the 22nd minute. That duo both scored again on Sep. 13, to down Gardner-Webb 2-0 to protect the pitch for a fourth time.

Scouting the Eagles

Georgia Southern comes into the 6-1-2, led by sixth-year Head Coach Chris Adams. The Eagles opened the season with six straight results, four wins and two ties, before dropping a game at Michigana, 3-0. 

Following the loss, Georgia Southern has gone 2-0, including winning their Sun Belt opener 3-0 against Arkansas State.

Kickoff for the Panthers is set for 7:00 p.m. ET on Thursday, Sep. 24.
