GREENVILLE, S.C. – Georgia State women's golf closed the Lady Paladin Invitational in impressive fashion, firing a 3-under 285 in Sunday's final round to finish seventh in a strong 12-team field at Furman University Golf Club.
The Panthers finished the three-day tournament with a 54-hole total of 876 following rounds of 298, 293 and 285. Georgia State's final-round 285 was the third-lowest score of the day, trailing only tournament champion Alabama (276) and runner-up High Point (279).
The 3-under performance also tied the third-lowest team round in program history and continued a recent run of low scoring for the Panthers. Georgia State has now posted a 285 three times in the last seven months, doing so in the second round in Puerto Rico, the final round of the Sun Belt Conference Championship and Sunday's final round at the Lady Paladin Invitational.
Thanpitcha Kongthong and Grace Kalina led the Panthers with a pair of top-20 individual finishes.
Kongthong finished tied for 11th at 3-under 213, improving her score each day of the tournament. She opened with an even-par 72 before carding a 1-under 71 in the second round and a 2-under 70 on Sunday.
Kalina finished just one stroke behind her teammate, tying for 15th at 2-under 214. She opened the tournament with consecutive rounds of 1-under 71 before closing with an even-par 72.
Gemilau Kurnia provided another highlight during Georgia State's final-round surge, tying her career low with a 2-under 70. Kurnia jumped up the leaderboard to finish tied for 43rd at 10-over 226 after rounds of 79, 77 and 70.
Madison Rookard also improved in each round, following an opening 76 with a 74 and 73 to finish tied for 33rd at 7-over 223. Pariya Sanpanawat rounded out the Panther lineup at 25-over 241.
Competing as an individual, Gaemphuang Ketrahong finished at 25-over 241 with rounds of 79, 81 and 81.
Georgia State finished ahead of Florida Gulf Coast, Minnesota, Rice, Samford and Daytona State in the 12-team field.
