Panthers Shutout KSU 4-0

KENNESAW, Ga. — Georgia State softball dominated through all seven innings to blank Kennesaw State 4-0 on Tuesday night at Bailey Park.

Makayla Stephens, Briana Bower and Brynn Belstle combined on a three-pitcher shutout as the Panthers limited the Owls to just six hits.

HOW IT HAPPENED

Georgia State struck first in the second inning when Chloe Hatcher led off the frame with a solo home run to right-center.

The Panthers added to their lead in the third, starting with a run-scoring double from Maya Bagsby to left-center that brought in Kya Walker. Bagsby later came around to score on a wild pitch, pushing the advantage to 3-0.

Georgia State capped the scoring in the fifth when a Kennesaw State fielding error allowed Walker to cross the plate, extending the lead to 4-0.

GAME NOTES
» Stephens, Bower and Belstle combined for a shutout performance in the circle.
» Georgia State's biggest inning was the third, where it plated two runs.
» The Panthers took control early after Hatcher's leadoff homer in the second.
» Georgia State pitchers held Kennesaw State to 1-for-8 with runners in scoring position.
» The staff faced 27 batters, allowing just one extra-base hit while striking out five.
