MOBILE, Ala. — Georgia State softball was blanked by South Alabama 4-0 on Saturday afternoon at Jaguar Field in the second game of the weekend series.
Briana Bower went the distance in the circle for the Panthers, tossing six innings while striking out five. She limited South Alabama to just 1-for-7 with runners in scoring position and induced 10 ground-ball outs.
HOW IT HAPPENED
South Alabama struck first in the opening inning with a two-run home run and carried the early advantage through four frames.
The Jaguars added two more runs in the fifth on an RBI groundout and RBI double to extend the lead to 4-0.
Georgia State threatened in the sixth inning when Ciarra Jefferson doubled and moved into scoring position with no outs, but the Panthers were unable to capitalize.
