Women's Tennis Falls to Kennesaw State on the Road

KENNESAW, GA – Georgia State Women's Tennis made the short trip north to face their in-state rivals at Kennesaw State on Friday morning. The Owls took a point in doubles play and three more in singles play to send the Panthers back home empty-handed.

Kennesaw State opened up doubles play with a swift 6-0 victory on court three, but the Panthers bounced back to even things up thanks to a 6-4 victory by Sara Radojevic and Sveva Bernardi on court two. The Owls top duo were able to outlast the Panthers on line one, winning the set 6-3 for the opening point of the match.

Playing from line three in singles play, Zeynep Erbakan was able to secure Georgia State's first point of the day. The freshman defeated her counterpart from Kennesaw 6-2 in the first set and closed out the straight set victory with a 6-3 win in the second. Erbakan's doubles partner, Maria Paredes, was off to strong start on court one, winning the first set 6-4 and taking a 5-1 lead int he second before the match was abandoned. With three points in singles play the Owls closed out a 4-1 defeat of the Panthers. 

Georgia State will look to bounce back at home when they host Sun Belt Conference foe Coastal Carolina at the GSU Clarkston Tennis Complex at 10 a.m. on Saturday. The Panthers are off to a 1-0 start in conference play and will look to stay undefeated against the Chanticleers.
