Owens Unveils 2026 Slate

ATLANTA – Head coach Becca Owens unveiled the full 2026 Georgia State softball schedule on Thursday afternoon, featuring a competitive 56-game slate highlighted by three early-season tournaments and a full 24-game Sun Belt Conference lineup. 

The Panthers open the season on Feb. 6 at the UWG Opening Weekend Event in Carrollton, Ga., beginning a three-day tournament that includes matchups against Drexel (Feb. 6), Austin Peay (Feb. 6-7), West Georgia (Feb. 7) and Bellarmine (Feb. 8). 

Georgia State continues their tournament slate the following weekend at the 2026 Mardi Gras Mambo in Youngsville, La., facing Southeastern Louisiana (Feb. 13), Northwestern State (Feb. 13), Nicholls (Feb. 14), Sam Houston (Feb. 14) and Louisiana Tech (Feb. 15) across five games. 

The Panthers return to Atlanta as Georgia Tech awaits with a midweek matchup in Atlanta on Feb. 19. Followed up with the I-75 Challenge, hosting Yale for a doubleheader on Feb. 20 and additional contests against Purdue (Feb. 21) and Yale again (Feb. 22). 

Georgia State then heads into a stretch of road tests in the Carolinas, including trips to Charleston Southern (Feb. 25) and Charleston (Feb. 27–Mar. 1), head coach Becca Owen's alma mater.  

GSU continues their eight-game road stand to Athens, Ga. to face the Georgia Bulldogs (Mar. 4).  

The Panthers will close out their tournament run at the Winthrop Invitational, featuring contests against Winthrop and Eastern Tennessee State on March 6, followed by games against Bucknell (March 7) and ETSU (Mar. 8). 

A home contest against Kennesaw State on March 10 sets the stage for the start of Sun Belt Conference play. 

Conference action opens with a home series against Marshall (March 13-15), followed by midweek clash against assistant coach Alex Preston's alma mater Alabama State (Mar. 17).  

Key matchups include road series at Troy (March 20-22), App State (March 27-29), South Alabama (April 10-12) and James Madison (April 24–26), as well as home weekends against Coastal Carolina (April 2-4), ULM (April 17-19) and Georgia Southern (April 30-May 2). 

Georgia State will conclude their home-and-home series with Kennesaw State (April 21) and another matchup at Georgia Tech (March 25). 

The 2026 Sun Belt Conference Championship is set for May 6-9 in Lafayette, La.
