Panthers Host Samford, Travel to Florida in Two-Match Week

ATLANTA – Georgia State women's soccer (3-2-0) looks to bounce back this week with a two-match slate that begins at home against Samford on Thursday, Sept. 4, before hitting the road for a Sunday showdown at Florida. Thursday's home match kicks off at 7 p.m. at the GSU Soccer Complex, while Sunday's contest in Gainesville is set for 6 p.m. and will air on ESPN+.

Panthers Open Week at Home

The Panthers return to Atlanta after splitting last week's matches, defeating Kennesaw State 4-0 before falling 0-3 on the road at nationally-ranked South Carolina. Against Kennesaw State, junior Emily Glenn delivered her first career multi-goal match, scoring twice to lead a commanding effort. Reese Gordon added a goal and an assist, while Gabriela Gonzalez set up two goals in the victory.

Through five matches, Georgia State has scored 15 goals on 95 shots while not allowing a goal at home. Team captain Aaliyah Faddoul leads the squad in shots (29) and has tallied four assists, while junior transfer Hina Suzuki has found the net four times in her first season as a Panther. Gordon (two goals, one assist) and Glenn (two goals) continue to pace a balanced attack that features seven different goal scorers already this season.

In goal, junior Ariana Anderson has started all five matches, recording three shutouts and a season-high 12 saves against South Carolina. She owns a 1.04 goals against average with 22 total saves.

Match 1: Georgia State vs. Samford (Sept. 4, 7 p.m)

Samford (1-2-1) makes the trip to Atlanta following a difficult non-conference slate that has already included SEC opponents (Auburn, Alabama). Thursday's meeting will be the first between the two programs since 2014, when Samford earned a narrow 2-1 victory.

Match 2: Georgia State at Florida (Sept. 7, 6 p.m)

The Panthers then head south to face Florida (3-2-0) at Donald R. Dizney Stadium.  The Gators traveled to Atlanta last season and came away with the victory 2-0 over the Panthers.
