ATLANTA --Freshman Ryleigh Garrett went 1-for-3 with a double and an RBI, but the Georgia State Panthers still came up short on Friday, and suffered defeat at the hands of the JMU Dukes by a final of 5-2.
Sophomore Makayla Stephens (3-8) started and took the loss in the circle for Georgia State (10-27, ). The right-hander went 6.2 innings, giving up three runs, all of them earned, on nine hits, allowing two walks and striking out seven.
HOW IT HAPPENED
The Panthers were trailing 3-0 in the fifth inning when they first put runs on the board. Georgia State plated two runs off of JMU pitching, one of which was driven in on a run-scoring double off the bat of Garrett. The Panthers were unable to get any closer, as JMU added two runs to their tally on the way to a 5-2 final.
