ATLANTA – No. 18 Georgia State (20-16) posted two victories in opening action of the Sun Belt Conference Championships in Foley, Ala. The postseason tournament is double-elimination format. With today's performance, the Sandy Panthers remain in the winners' bracket, advancing to the semifinals.
Tournament Notes:
- First, Beth Van Fleet's squad faced No.7 seed, Charleston, surpassing the Cougars 4-1. This marked the third meeting between the two squads this season, GSU emerging victorious in each encounter.
- Next, GSU bested No. 3 seed, UNC Wilmington, by a score of 4-1.
- Three pairs went undefeated in today's action: Aree Keller/Ayla Johnson, Danica Singleton/Michaela Jefferson, and Kealy Dirner/Kaebre Sullivan.
- Danica Singleton and Michaela Jefferson lead the team in wins this season with 22.
- Three freshman, Ella Mozeleski, Kealy Dirner, and Danica Singleton, represented the blue and white.
- The Sandy Panthers remain undefeated in all-time SBC Tournament action. Georgia State is seeking their third consecutive conference title.
- With today's victories, Georgia State has garnered 20 wins during the 2025 campaign. This marks the ninth consecutive season that GSU has hit the 20-win milestone, not including 2020, the COVID-19 year.
